INNOVATION SINCE 1982 – THE BGK HISTORY
1982
Karl Knödel starts his own business—initially as a belt processing company.
1987
Drive and conveyance issues present new challenges. The company designs and builds its first in-house machines to manufacture true endless belts.
1992
With its in-house machinery and equipment manufacturing capabilities, BGK is able to cover the entire value chain: from carcass to coating to further processing.
1995
BGK can respond with the utmost flexibility and speed to even the most unusual customer requests. As a result, it operates successfully not only in the German market but throughout Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
1998
The Königsbronn location is becoming too small—so the company is building its new headquarters in the Badenberg industrial park in Heidenheim, featuring spacious, dedicated facilities.
2003
BGK has been certified to DIN EN ISO 9001—a proof of its high quality and an additional incentive for continuous improvement.
2007
Karl Knödel’s son, Andreas, is joining the company with a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering.
2012
Opening of the expansion facility. Dr. Andreas Knödel, as the sole managing director, leads the successful family-owned business as a second-generation entrepreneur.
2015
Whether online or in print, at trade shows or on packaging—the new brand identity of BGK makes the company instantly recognizable to customers and partners.
2022
BGK is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
2024
Sustainability is becoming increasingly important—for example, through the use of new types of materials and modern PV systems.

Our active commitment to our quality management system—which has been ISO 9001-certified since 2003—also supports our ability to manage and further develop this diversity.

For us, quality means meeting both the stated and unspoken expectations of our customers. We process inquiries, quotes, and orders accurately, promptly, and on time. Our employees are committed to our quality policy. Their identification with our products is also reflected in above-average loyalty to the company. Short lines of communication, flat hierarchies, and direct communication facilitate a lively exchange of ideas to ensure quality, further develop our products, and improve our processes. Training and continuing education programs are tailored to our needs and conducted either internally or externally, helping us meet our quality standards.
All process flows are transparent and clearly defined. They are subject to a continuous improvement process in which we constantly work to enhance the quality of our products and processes. Newly introduced processes are documented and communicated immediately to ensure consistently high quality in all areas.
We view our suppliers—just like our customers—as partners with whom we collaborate on a long-term basis built on trust. The high quality standards we set for our products are reflected in the requirements we place on our suppliers. Therefore, when selecting suppliers, we place great emphasis on high quality and a reasonable price-performance ratio—with the goal of establishing a long-term relationship characterized by mutual fairness.
In addition to comprehensive in-process quality control conducted directly on the production floor, our high standards also include our own state-of-the-art testing facility, where all product characteristics are tested and inspected. These tests are conducted for all new developments as well as on a regular basis for our entire product line. Upon request, we provide customized test reports.
READY FOR THE FUTURE – SUSTAINABILITY AT BGK
Taking responsibility for the future is a matter of course at BGK. In our production facilities, we use electricity generated by our own photovoltaic system; we manage resources responsibly; and we use coatings made from more than 50% renewable raw materials.
